Our broad knowledge of multi-disciplinary projects and constructability allows us to team successfully with Design/Builders, bringing valued added designs to the project. Whether we are contracted directly with the Prime Contractor or through one of the trade sub-contractors for their portion for the work, we can assist by providing valuable input necessary to allow for trades to price and bid the projects successfully.
Although Design/Build procurement is often simple from the Owner’s perspective, it can be a challenge from the Design/Builder perspective as RFP’s are often vague and pricing is often accomplished with minimal documentation. The Design/Builder has to balance upfront costs associated with responding to the RFP with risk associated with “under scoping” a project. Our experience and expertise allows for our engineers to ask the right questions to clarify RFP intent and to provide documentation and direction to the trades for pricing with minimal ambiguity. When bridging documents are minimal or subject to interpretation leaving creativity to the Design/Build Team, we assist by supplementing the RFP with narratives, outline specifications, and drawings as needed.
As the design/build delivery system has grown in popularity, so has our experience in working with Contractors to make this delivery system a success, not only for the Owners, but also for the Design/Build Team.
