More than 53 million children and about 6 million adults spend a significant portion of their days in more than 120,000 public and private school buildings states the Environmental Protection Agency’s website. Many of our engineers also spend a significant amount of their time in those educational facilities – surveying, confirming design decisions, monitoring construction and talking to facilities personnel and school administrators. We are charged with ensuring the health, comfort and productivity of the staff and students through energy efficient and environmentally friendly systems design.
While much of our educational work is new construction, we also routinely design systems for renovation and modernization projects. It’s essential that we take old and outdated (and frankly, inefficient and potentially harmful) systems and create innovative energy efficient systems that provide an environment that encourages and supports learning and instruction.
