Daylighting is essential for energy efficient and sustainable building
design. Strategies are integrated early in the schematic phase to make
the most of the many interrelated aspects of architecture and engineering.
Electric lighting, through the use of photosensors, is automatically dimmed
or turned off reducing peak electrical demand and cooling loads. Effective
daylighting strategies will reduce building lighting, cooling and energy
loads as well as maintenance costs associated with lamp replacement.
Recent projects incorporating daylighting include:
White Oak Recreation Center, Montgomery County, Maryland
North Potomac Recreation Center, Montgomery County, Maryland
Owings Mills Learning Center, Baltimore County, Maryland
Eastern Primary School, Washington County, Maryland
Antietam Academy, Washington County, Maryland
Linganore High School, Frederick County, Maryland
Edgewood High School, Harford County, Maryland
North Harford High School, Harford County, Maryland
